Booming Indian gaming industry by conceptualizing and establishing WinZO in 2018

Saumya Singh and Paavan Nanda teamed up to capitalize on the booming Indian gaming industry by conceptualizing and establishing WinZO in 2018. The platform has raised approximately $100 million, with a valuation of around $375 million (approximately Rs. 3,000 crore) following its most recent fundraising of $65 million in July 2021.

Before co-founding WinZO, Saumya earned a PG degree in psychology from the University of Manchester in the UK and began her career at KPMG in London before taking on various roles at the Times Group of India. Paavan, on the other hand, brings gaming industry experience to the table.

During the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, WinZO experienced a significant surge in users, benefiting from the upswing in the gaming industry. The platform prioritizes fairness and safety, ensuring that all games on the platform are fair and provides secure real-time deposit and withdrawal systems, with payment partners such as Paytm, Google Pay, PhonePe, and BHIM.

WinZO earns revenue by providing gaming platforms to users and charging a service fee based on the total amount of money involved in real-money games, contests, tournaments, and loyalty points programs. Additionally, the company earns commissions on the sale of vouchers to customers.

With 100 collections of games spanning various categories such as strategy, sports, casual, card, arcade, racing, action, and board games, WinZO has a user base of 100 million registered players who carry out over 3.5 billion microtransactions every month.

According to a report by Entrackr, WinZO’s revenue from operations increased by 2.3 times to Rs. 234 crore during the fiscal year ending in March 2022, marking an 8x growth compared to the previous year’s revenue. As a result, WinZO is currently the fastest-growing gaming platform in India.

WinZO has even managed to attract famous personalities, such as sports icon MS Dhoni and influencers Carry Minati and Bhuvan Bam. In 2022, the platform secured the principal sponsorship of the KKR IPL franchise in a long-term deal.
